Instance Types

Instance types, also referred to as flavors, are templates defining the resources to be used by a VM instance. The Instance type is selected when creating a VM instance.

Create New Instance Type

  1. Navigate to the Main menu > Compute > Instance Type view. The Instance Type list is displayed.

  2. Click Create in the top toolbar.

  3. In the Create Instance Type window, enter the following:

    • Name - name that will identify the instance type.

    • vCPUs - vCPU resource configuration depends on the selected mode:

      • Simple - directly enter the number of vCPUs defined for this instance type.

      • Advanced - enter the number of sockets, CPU cores per socket, and number of threads per CPU. The product of all three is number of vCPUs defined for this instance type.

    • Memory - enter RAM in GB.

  4. Click OK. The new instance type will appear in the list with the following parameters:

    • Name

    • Category

    • vCPUs

    • RAM

    • VMs - number of VM’s using the instance type.

    • Public

Delete Instance Type

  1. Navigate to the Main menu > Compute > Instance Type view.

  2. From the displayed list, select the instance type to be deleted.

  3. Click Remove in the top toolbar.

    Note

    Public instance types can not be removed.
